ALL THE CHILLS
When it comes to layered looks, winter is the one. Don’t get us wrong, we love summer – as proven by our winter sun edit – but the colder months are a prime excuse for going all out on new-season designs. Hell yeah you deserve that new Moncler puffer – it’s fricking freezing out.
That’s not to say that winter dressing doesn’t have its drawbacks – rain, sleet and snow are the biggest obstacles. However, we’re here to show you that no matter your style tribe, the elements don’t have to be the enemy of your aesthetic.
To guide you in your quest, we’ve curated four looks that bring together the ultimate outerwear, layering and accessories to see out the season.

THE GENTLEMAN Take cues from Matthew McConaughey & co.’s wardrobe in Guy Ritchie’s latest blockbuster – it’s all about mixing old-school charm with a modern sensibility. Shearling coats, high-neck knitwear and lace-up leather boots offer contemporary twists on heritage pieces. More importantly, they’ll keep you cushty in the cold. On the subject, special mention goes to Oliver Spencer and Thom Browne. Oh and – whatever you do – don’t forget to grab your Paul Smith umbrella on your way out.
THE PEACOCK Fashion month reaffirmed the renaissance of dandyism that’s sweeping menswear. Where streetwear was once the way to set yourself apart, we’re now seeing a wave of designers upping the opulence with outré overcoats, graphic jumpers and louche tailored trousers. It’s a look that lends itself to winter: when pattern clashes are actively encouraged, layering up on clothing and accessories is ideal. Poster boys include Harry Styles in Gucci, A$AP Rocky rocking Loewe and Timothée Chalamet in Dior.
THE MINIMALIST It’s always tricky to keep things simple when the weather insists you wear everything in your wardrobe all at once. One solution is to opt for an all-black edit. However, those looking for a brighter take on the stripped-back aesthetic can also try balancing monochrome pieces with earthy tones and soft neutrals. Labels like AMI, OAMC and Lemaire are masters, but the great thing about the minimalist look is that you can source staples from every designer collection. We’d even go so far as to suggest sporting a linear-patterned shirt or accessories (heresy, we know).
THE EXPLORER Previously considered polar opposites, hiking gear and high fashion have converged. It’s a practical trend that we wholeheartedly embrace – especially during the lean months of winter – even if the only trek we have planned is into town. After all, who wants to spend their life checking weather apps when you can be ready for anything in your quilted puffer jacket, fleece sweatshirt and techy cargo trousers? Hiking heroes include Wood Wood’s sustainable apparel, Brandblack’s trail trainers and the utility designs of Italian maestros Stone Island and C.P. Company.
