STYLED BY ME PART TWO
Joseph Denison Carey “I can’t pinpoint one specific style inspiration. I’ve always loved a high-waisted trouser, often worn with a T-shirt to play the look down a little. Whenever I see a film set in the twenties and thirties, where a character’s belt is practically tied around their ribs, I’ve always thought it looked pretty cool. Alternatively, baggy corduroys, a jumper and a button-up jacket works well as a much more casual look. I’ve never really been a fan of huge logos printed all over an outfit. I feel like I’d look like a Formula 1 driver. Whichever look I’m going for –smart, casual, or somewhere in between – I try to go as simple as possible. Small logos if any, and few colours. I definitely lean on the side of minimalism. A go-to brand of mine is Carhartt: simple, durable and reliable.”

Lu Zang “I've always been inspired by 90s fashion, from blazer-and-turtleneck combos to crop tops and statement hoop earrings. Bella Hadid is one of my biggest fashion inspirations, with her vintage style, super-lifted face and cat-eye make-up. The cycle of fashion seems to be reborn every few decades. That's why I prefer to invest in classic, quality pieces instead of following fast-fashion trends. My mother always encouraged me to dress however I want and explore new styles. I enjoy playing around with different elements, mixing and matching clothes in different ways. I think the most important thing is to be confident about what you wear and embrace your own style.”

Takayuki Suzuki “The two things that matter the most to me when choosing clothes are comfort and colour. They must be comfortable; I need to feel cosy when I wear them. But I always make sure the colours I pick don’t clash – a mixed-up look is good, but not when it looks like a mess. Black and white are my go-to for tops, and I like playing with colours for my socks and shoes.

Essentially, I like to dress simply; I believe a simpler style helps your personality shine through. This is what is important to me when I choose my wardrobe. It is what I believe in and what works for me. Be natural. Be simple. That’s my style.”
Anna Morrissey “Personal style has always acted, for me, as a preliminary assertion of how I’m feeling, and what I want to achieve. As a teen hindered by anxiety, my last semblance of personal expression rested in the choice of pyjamas I changed into from day to night. My clothes have charted my journey. At times I said more with the items I put on in the morning than I was able to verbally express. The clothes I choose to wear, and the way I choose to wear them, work within a discourse of an ever-evolving understanding of self, and a continual stylistic conversation with the women I admire. My perfect outfit is one that features elements of experimentation along with familiar and classic pieces – for instance, a trusted cashmere cardigan worn through at the elbows, paired with a more adventurous pair of Vivienne Westwood platform heels.”
